Mission: Mission of Boy Scouts of America: To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Within the Boy Scouts of America, we are a member in good standing of the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Frontier District. Troop 310 does this through an active well-rounded Scouting program. Back to Top

Approach: Our goals are to assist all interested scout aged boys to enjoy the scouting experience. Our focus is on leadership and teamwork. “Boy-led organization” is not simply words to our Scout leadership. We consider scouting to be self-paced adventure, not a race. We encourage active participation by all Scouts but are tolerant of conflicts for family, school or sports. We encourage all parents to participate with their Scout as a Troop parent, or by becoming a Merit Badge Counselor, or an Adult Leader. Back to Top

Size: Over 44 Scouts with 20+ Adult Leaders. There are 4 Patrols, in which we mix ages and ranks so that the wisdom of the seasoned scouts passes on to the newer members. Newer scouts assume increasingly greater leadership roles under the oversight of those who have done it before. The older boys mentor and guide the newer scouts, ensuring that all are given ability–appropriate responsibilities. Back to Top

Leadership: Elections and appointments are held every 6 months for Troop and Patrol positions with the exception of Senior Patrol Leader which is annually. The Leaders work to ensure that all Scouts are afforded leadership opportunities for rank advancement. The Scout leadership plans the meetings and activities. The Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meets monthly with the Scoutmaster to plan these events. Back to Top

Recognitions: 4 Courts for Honor are held annually to recognize rank advancement and award merit badges. Back to Top
